MYSTERIOUS STRANGER was an original performance piece inspired by the novel of the same name, written (but never completed) by Mark Twain. My piece involved a supernatural character called "Satan" or "No. 44" whose job it was to convince its audience that God is imaginary. The audience was first taken down a flight of stairs into a 100 year old cellar, then through a corridor into a storage room wherein a glowing crawlspace hummed and beckoned them forward. Only six people were allowed access per-performance, each having to climb a small ladder into the space which laid hidden underneath a stage.
